On Wednesday, six year 6 children took part in the annual Bike around the Borough Event (BATB). The event involved over 40 primary & secondary schools participating in the mass bike ride around the borough. The route took in Hackney Downs, Stoke Newington, Dalston, Hackney Central, Stamford Hill, Upper & Lower Clapton and various parks finishing at Haggerston Park for a celebration event.
In total the children rode nine miles through Hackney. Over 1,000 children took part and this ensured that the world record for the biggest mass participation ride was broken. Innes Mataboro 6A said, “It was amazing to see all the bikes riding through Hackney, apparently the mass ride beat the Guinness Book of Records and we had a great time but it was hard work and very tiring.”
Well done to Taiwo Olawoyin, Prodige Botesse, Princesse Kabuya Tshimanga, Godfred Asare, Victoria Kone and Innes Mataboro.
Thanks to Ms Nugent & Mr Steve for accompanying the children.
