All this week in the build up to the EU referendum, our school community has been learning all about Europe by researching a country in the European Union and finding out lots of interesting facts and information. Our school debating team then took up the challenge in a special assembly attended by Mrs Meg Hillier MP for Hackney South.
The debaters carried out a live debate on the issue which was well received by children and staff alike. Meg Hillier MP commented by saying, “What a wonderful debate which raised many issues and, actually, the children in this debate have made more sense than some of us politicians.”
In addition, the children in KS2 all had the opportunity to vote to either remain or leave the EU. In our EU vote the results were 200 for remaining in the EU & 19 to exit the EU. Massive thanks to Ms Campbell who organised the entire week and planned the debate and voting which helped the children understand more about the issue.
