Miss Slingsby and a class member were chosen to participate in a zoo demonstration about penguins!
They had to dress as Penguins to help illustrate how they survive in the wild. They are flightless birds that have evolved to swim with flippers. Penguin’s black and white plumage serves as camouflage while swimming. The black plumage on their back is hard to see from above, while the white plumage on their front looks like the sun reflecting off the surface of the water when seen from below.
Miss Slingsby and her pupil had immense fun waddling around pretending to be penguins.
