17 Jun Young Hackney Football Championships
Year 5 beat Betty Layward Primary School in the final to become champions!
This week, our year 5 children took part in the Young Hackney Football Championships at Mabley Green. Fourteen schools took part and our team was drawn in a group of seven schools: we played six matches winning three, drawing two and losing one. As a result of this we finished second in the group and qualified for the semi-finals.
St John & St James were the opposition in the semi-final and after a 0-0 draw it went to penalty kicks to decide who would progress to the final. St John & James missed two penalties and we missed one which meant we qualified for the final.
The final against Betty Layward saw our team take an early lead and then score again just before the end of the match to win 2-0 and become champions.
Well done to the following boys: Devante Ulume, Ryan Guembou, Henry Thomson, Mayo Ademidun, John Adebola-Samuel, David Charles, Emmanuel Obayemi, Trey Nelson and Samuel Areoye.
Thanks to Mr Timmy & Mr Steve for looking after the team.
